For me, the journey was pretty long. been on Twitch for some time now and figured i'd make this post on how to get to affiliate to help some of you out! (Disclaimer, i'm no Twitch doctor/guru but figured i'd share the things that helped me!)
First of all, let's talk about mindset.
Try not to look at your viewer count, stream time, etc too much. If you get caught up in that, it's hard to be entertaining on stream and focus on the game you might be playing, or just be entertaining in general. Try to have a good time, and look at chat from time to time to make sure you respond to someone straight away so the viewer dosen't feel left out or forgotten. they make your channel!
If you have friends on Twitch, ask them to give you a view when you stream! It will also help you get discovered more easily because you move higher up in the category your at. Also, a stream that has a few viewers already are way more attractive to click on because it gives an indication that your community/other people like to watch you!
Advertise on other platforms! Here is a few ways you can do that:
Tweet when you go live.
IG story!
Discord servers! (Your own + servers where your ALLOWED to advertise!)
You can also join random servers made for promoting your socials!

Make sure your stream has a nice look and good quality!
I'm not saying you need the best Mic or webcam. What i'm trying to say is make sure it's visually pleasing to look at! A clean overlay, Make sure your game audio isn't louder than your mic, etc. Small things that makes it enjoyable for the viewers! Otherwise, personalize it as you want! Follower goal, top donos, webcam overlay and those things aren't a must! Just ask yourself, would i enjoy watching my own stream if i was a random viewer? I see sooooo many small streamers have their audio messed up, things covering the In-game overlays etc, and it drives people away!
So this is probroably the most important thing you can do in order to grow: NETWORK!
Drop by other people's stream, build a relationship! I'm NOT saying you should drop by someone's stream for the sole purpose of growing your own. You support others, and hopefully they support you back. Never expect to get anything in return, your building friendships and relations. Not your personal army of viewers to help your stream!
There is a bunch of other things i could talk about to help you grow, but i figured i'd keep this semi-short!
Other things you might wanna keep in mind if your serious about this streaming thingy are: A Nice "about me" section with info about you so your viewers gets to know you better, Social media and a schedule!
At the end of the day, just have a good time! If you all of a sudden don't enjoy streaming, play something else! Your the boss, do what you have to in order for you to have fun. If your happy streaming, your viewers will notice and it will be more enjoyable for them to watch!
Hope this little "guide" is helpful! Good luck on your path to affiliate!
